Yes, but for just every day stuff, nope.
Well, every day I need a better battery life. Every day a bigger screen is useful. Camera is not used every day, but quite often in my case. The RAM is more an investment on the future…
The 5x telephoto “could” be useful it if it wasn’t a lousy 12mp. I can just screw on my ProCam 2x telephoto over the 3x, and effectively have a 6x 12mp telephoto.
Megapixel is a measure for quantity, not quality. Your comparison between a digital crop and an optical zoom is meaningless.

I won’t say that every 15PM has a bad battery, but I truly believe that the difference between a 14PM vs 16PM for everyday use is negligible besides AI.
There are certainly a bunch of quality of life improvements in two generations. Whether they matter to one or not is purely subjective. But I tend to agree with you.

What about the battery health? On my previous 14 PM, a phone I loved, it was down to 81% after less than two years. Something never experienced on any iPhone previously.
That’s what drove me to upgrade to a 16 PM (plus a good swap in deal from Apple instead of replacing my 14 PM battery)
It's currently at 86% so far and still lasts me all day. If the battery was shot, that would have definitely driven me to an upgrade but luckily I dont seem to have as bad of battery as others do with this phone

For basic use such as streaming video, social media, email, and web browsing. I notice very little difference. I do like the writing of tools and notifications summaries in Apple Intelligence though. The camera is noticeably better too.

Battery too fast degradation was the only complaint I had about iPhone 14 Pro Max. For everything else it was the best iPhone I’ve had.

Yes…and no. Of course mp is a quantity, however if it’s a good sensor, a 48 mp shot will yield more detail, thereby offering better opportunities for cropping and other work on the image file.
Not sure where you’re getting the “comparison” from.
Oh, yes. There is no optical zoom on any iPhone, only telephoto.
Don’t get lost in the meaningless tech details.

Nope. A 48 MP sensor could be worse than a 13 MP one, quality wise.
Optical zoom means the lens is 5X optically (120 mm), not digitally created from a 24 mm.
Those are not meaningless tech details, but the basic concept of photography

Yes, more mp can be worse than a lower mp. As I pointed out, a higher mp sensor has to be very good to overcome stuffing more mp on to the sensor. Digital photography 101.
Again, zoom and telephoto are two different things enty. All photography 101. iPhones do not “zoom”.

You’re being picky for the sake of it.
Apple is advertising it as a zoom

I clarified I was speaking about the 120mm lens.

Once you’ve gone 5x you won’t use any other lens ever again. It’s the perfect focal length for nearly every situation and makes portraits more candid. Depending on how many other Lightning devices you have knocking around USBC could be a bigger deal than you think. Only having to take one charger when travelling is incredibly convenient.

For me the biggest difference was gaming. Finally having proper video out on an iPhone meant that I could, if I wanted to replace my Xbox. Besides the native iOS games streaming works well enough.
