I figured instead of making a new thread I'd post here first.

Does anyone's phone stop charging once it reaches 95% but then if you unplug it and then plug it back in it charges to 100%?

Saw this for the first time this a.m. Took it off the charger after 8hrs and it only read 93%. Put it back on and it went to 100%.

NOW at the same time, I've seen some of the worst battery life since updating to ios5 (iPhone 4). Phone was at 100% and off charger, sitting without any use. And in 1hr 15min. I'm down to 78%. I can see it dropping a % every few minutes. I've tried almost every conceivable combination of turning things on/off.

Can't wait for an update from apple.

Happened to me last night. Went to be at 12:00. Plugged it into an iPad charger. Woke up about 6:00 and it was only 90%.

Why would u use iPad charger to charge ur iphone?

They are different wattages.

There is nothing wrong in using the iPad charger. When I go abroad I usually just take that and charge both my iPad and iPhone with it. It doesn't do any harm to the iPhone.

I too am trying to figure out what causes battery drain. Last night I reset me cellular usage before I went to bed to see if there would be any usage when the phone was locked and not doing anything. This morning there was 53.0 KB sent and 82.0 KB received. The battery was down 7%, which I didn't think was too bad. I didn't receive any texts, calls, or emails during that time. Does anyone know what kind of data is being sent and received when the phone is seemingly doing nothing?

So after shutting off all system services I can report that it hasn't affected any function yet. Siri and search and everything else seems to be working fine.

I'm getting pretty good battery life so it's hard to say whether shutting off system services did any good.

I've said this in a couple other threads but I think it's worth repeating.

After charging to 100% I let it discharge to around 95%. I then put it back on the charger until it reaches 100% again and leave it charging for another fifteen minutes or so. After I do that I get excellent battery life. I have yet to get lower than about 25% after 12 to 15 hours of moderate to heavy use.

Been there, done that, no benefit.
Drove just 2 miles to the Apple Store.
Genius returned a diagnosis, defective battery
Was exchanged for a new iPhone in sealed retail package.
Activated, synced, ready to go.
24 hrs later, initial run times better than the iP4 it replaced.

Thanks Apple :)

Gray bar means that your phone utilized this feature today, purple bar means it's currently in use. You can also turn on the setting that shows you whenever location based app is using gps on the top bar.

For the most part, I've had diagnostics and usage as well as iAds on and neither has been ever active, or gray bar. So it's safe to say that in my usage, they aren't used often at all.

Cell network search is gray though and I will turn it off to try it out.

Hey nice find guys thanks a lot I can't wait to see what my battery life is like for the rest of the day

Ever since I made these adjustments (and a few others), I've seen a significant improvement in battery life!
