Hi

For those that use the 12.9 IPP and the ASK, do remove the keyboard when you are not typing in order to minimize weight or do you change to a Smart Cover?

I just remove it as it is way too bulky. I have thought about picking up a Smart Cover but never got around to it.

It depends. When I know that I won't be needing the ASK for a while, I will swap it with the Smart Cover. But if I'm out and about (I don't carry both covers with me) with the ASK and will just use the iPP as a tablet, then I'll just remove the ASK.

I only use my ASK on my iPad Pro 12.9 when I'm on the road or out. At home I have a stand I keep it on and use my Logitech Keys to Go.

Yep. I have one of the leather smart covers too and use this one the majority of the time. The apple keyboard case is only used when I have to type more out.

Unless I am actually typing on the smart keyboard, I usually remove it and hold the iPad in portrait orientation.
There are times when I wish that the ASK supported portrait orientation (but that would obviously require a second smart connector).

I used Apple's iPad keyboard dock for the original iPad and iPad 2 and found working on some documents in portrait mode to be a pleasant experience.

It depends. If I'm laying down in bed, I'll usually remove the ASK since it's lighter to hold. Since I didn't splurge on a smart cover, the ASK is the only "case / cover" that I use. But if I'm going anywhere, the ASK is with me attached to the iPad.
