Question for UK iPhone Users

With just five days until the Apple Event 2024, I'm curious if anyone has started locking in their trade-in or selling prices through platforms like Music Magpie, We Buy Any Phone, etc., ahead of the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max announcement.

For me, whether I upgrade depends on whether both models have comparable cameras. If they do, I'll likely sell my iPhone 15 Pro, and this will probably be my last upgrade for a few years - I'm not keen on doing this annually.

Has anyone else started securing prices, or will you wait until after the announcement?
(For those who won’t be using eBay to sell.)

I’ll probably just trade it in with Apple for ease. I’ve sold one privately once to a bloke who complained it didn’t work, went round to help him out and had his sister shouting at me that I’d taken advantage of him. He’d been trying to yam the sim in it the wrong way round, had ripped the perfect box and scratched the screen….. this was after a single day. (I got it working and set up and it was fine after that).

CEX and other companies all seem to offer much of a muchness once they see the state of the battery. And if I go into the Apple Store and trade it in I can set up the new phone before handing over the old phone and I’ve just got complete continuity.

I do normally offer to sell it to close friends cheap out of politeness but never really get takers.

I’m looking to take out the iPhone upgrade program again and then trade my current phone and watch in against a Apple Watch Ultra

Normally music magpie for me.

They quite generally last 2 weeks so I’ll do it next Wednesday/Thursday which gives me time. However, in case of a price drop I’ll also do it on Monday for a worst case scenario.

*just checked Apple directly and they’re a better price so hopefully they stay at that and it will make life simpler!*

Usually trade-in at Apple for ease or on itsworthmore.

If I sell to them, I try to lock in my offer before the event, but this year I'm going with Apple directly just cause I don't wanna deal with it lol

if you're set on not upgrading for the next few years; you might regret upgrading this year. The differences will be minimal, especially coming from a 15 pro. Try to avoid the hype that will inevitably come next week and hold off till next year when there will be an actual redesign 😄

Apple has stuck with this design for almost half a decade… what makes you think they’ll change it in 2025?

I’m not too concerned about the redesign. As @Andeddu mentioned, Apple hasn’t significantly changed the design in the past 10 years, and I don’t expect 2025 to be any different. If and when they do have a major redesign in the future, I’ll consider it then.

What really drew me to the iPhone 15 Pro Max were the camera features, but I prefer the Pro size so I went for that. If the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max end up having the same camera, that would be a deal breaker for me.
