Why did you pick it over the others ?

What colour are you getting ?

For me it’s very simple, it has the power of the pro in a small and light package. I had a 16 plus before and it is 199g which is heavy. The pro has a smaller screen and is the same weight and the pro max is a heavy 236g.

The air gives me a 6.5” screen, almost the same as the plus with a lighter weight and 19 pro chip. I also get a 2x zoom which is all I need. Seems fine for the job. My 12 year old is getting my plus as he needs a phone for his new secondary school …

I am getting black, just looks cool

I think I may get the space black Air, it just looks stunning with the polished frame and matte black rear glass with the new design.

Also I have problems with the nerves in my hands, and having the choice of a large display in an iPhone so thin and light really appeals to me.

I currently have a 16 Pro which is about 199g, so cutting it down to 165g is going to be more comfortable for me.

I’m still torn on my decision to make….
Air or Pro 😄

When I got my 11" iPad Pro and felt how thin it was one of the first things I thought was how cool it would be to have a phone that thin.

So when the rumors started talking about it I thought it might be for me but then when they announced it I was very happy with what they delivered. I am thinking about changing it up from my normal white or black and getting the gold one.

I think the Pro models this year, and probably going into the future, are ugly and have a more rugged and less elegant style.

I'll probably go with the white Air. I had black phones since the 3G with the exception of the gold Xs which looked gorgeous. The only alternative really would be to skip this year, coming from a 16 Pro.

I don't think the camera tradeoffs are going to bother me, but the mono speaker and battery might. It remains to be seen if the Air truly can deliver the *same* battery life as iPhone 16 Pro as stated in the comparison sheet. That would be amazing, but I can't imagine it.

I’m planning to switch because I mostly work from home and don’t need a phone with huge battery life. On my iPhone 16 Pro I rarely use anything beyond the 1x or 2x lenses, so the extra camera features aren’t a priority for me. What I’d really value is a thinner, lighter phone. I have psoriatic arthritis, and holding the 16 Pro for long stretches can be tiring. At this point the 17 Pro feels like overkill for my needs, especially since ProMotion is now available across the lineup.

I was between Sky Blue and White but I think I’m going to go with Sky Blue.

I’m going with cloud white.

I’m choosing the Air over the Pro Max because I’m tired of the weight of the Pro Max. The Air reminds me of a Pro-lite device which is what I’ve been looking for. It has the A19 Pro, 12GB ram, always on display, and weighs less than the Pro Max. I don’t really take photos so I’m not going to miss out there.

I don’t understand the hate for the Air. If you don’t want a thinner, lighter device then you can choose between the 17 or the 17 Pro/Pro Max.

Exactly. After a lot of thought, I’ve come up with the following conclusion:

Some people become viscerally upset that the product that fits their demands the best isn’t the shiny, new, “cool” one. They WANT to want the Air, and they’re resentful that it works well for you but not them.

My concern is Apples track record of phones running warm. That’s a valid problem that I’ve experienced on a few different iPhone models, especially my current iPhone 16 Pro Max.

The “reason” their giving on the return to Aluminum from Titanium on this years Pro Max is aluminum runs cooler. Making the Air out of Titanium sounds suspicious.

MKBHD just posted a video voicing the same concerns. Once the honeymoon is over the truth may surface.

’m still deciding whether to upgrade my 15 Pro Max to the Air. I like taking lots of pictures and short video clips, but I’m not a photographer. I’m unsure if I’m willing to give up the Ultra Wide camera—unless the Air’s picture quality is just as good without it, in which case I wouldn’t mind.

If I do decide to pre-order, I’d go with the Space Gray 256GB model. I’ve realized I don’t need as much storage as I initially thought, thanks to iCloud.

I’m getting it because it’s a more interesting, futuristic design. I want a lightweight phone, but I also want a bigger screen than I have now. This has both.

The 17 Pro is very ugly, and too heavy and bulky. It feels like a utilitarian tool, which is not what I need. The Air will do most of what the Pro does. I mostly only use the main camera anyway.

There is a part of me hesitating due to the fact that the Air comes with a few downgrades over my 3.5 yr old 13 Pro. And I don’t love that. But I think I am going to like this new phone. I’ll be getting Sky Blue.

This is a valid concern. Apple did improve the thermals from the 15 Pro/Pro Max to the 16 Pro/Pro Max so perhaps they learned something from that?

After looking on the internet as best I could, it appears the blue Air is very, very light blue that almost looks white. It appears to be lighter in color than the front of my blue M4 iMac. If I have to struggle to see the blue, that is too light for me. I set up a preorder just now for the black model. I am going to use it naked on the frame but, use a screen protector. I wouldn't like scratches on my screen. Putting a case on it really defeats most of the purpose of getting the Air in the first place, in my opinion.

The rear glass is glossy again.
It’s definitely a matte black rear glass apart from the camera bump and the Apple logo.

For many years I have upgraded to the latest Pro Max model.

I live in a warm area and personal experience with both my iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 16 Pro Max were that they ran warm even when kept out of direct sunlight. Conversely I did not experience the issue years earlier with my iPhone 14 Pro Max.

In fairness to Apple there was the slightest of improvements between the 15 Pro Max and my current 16 Pro Max, yet I still get the warning which stops charging till the phone cools. Went to my local Apple store had it checked and it was found normal.

I'm very tempted to try an iPhone 17 Pro Max now that they have addressed thermal management, but it's hard to trust them at this point.

Having a vast array of Apple devices, computers etc, I've certainly contributed my share to their bottom line. Continuing to pay up front only to bring home their latest flagship and be disappointed is getting old.
