Man, when I first installed Panther it worked fine. But then I installed some USB 2.0 card drivers that I guess I didn't need. Then all hell broke loose. My Mac crashed. HARD.
At startup, all manner of codelines came on the screen and the last line read "...we are hanging here". Real bad news.
I tried everything. Nortons was useless. Zapped PRAM. I booted from the CD-ROM drive. Then I had to bite-the-bullet and do a software restore. That meant I had to reformat the drive. AAIHG! So, that's what I did.
Weird thing though, is that I was at my wits end and I was having trouble even doing the software restore. I did it but I got the same problem. Then I went to bed and the next morning I was convinced I was going to have to replace the harddrive. But when I booted it up, I got the Welcome to the Mac intro like when I first bought the computer. Weird. I don't want to think about it anymore. Just glad my Mac is doing fine.
