Yup. Same here. I have an 11" Air which I use and I sometimes just leave home with only the Air, only to find that the file I want is on the Pro. Or I'm at home working on my Pro looking for a file when I find out that a file I want is on the Air.

I use Synk to keep my 17" MBP and 13" MBA data syncronized. Its pricey but works extremely well. Any change you make to one machine will automatically get replicated to the other. I dont have to worry about which files I need to move when I am stepping out

Good question, OP! I've got a Dell Mini 12 and a MBP on the way...I've also got a desktop though (PC built from parts), so the Mini 12 is likely on the way out. There are definitely reasons to have multiples laying around, but then again, I think some people just like to collect laptops...;)

I've got two laptops, a 17" MBP and a 12" PB.

The 17" is my main laptop, the one I'm on 80% of the time. I crave portability and power, and I found it to be a great mix. Yes, I did just describe the 17" as portable :p

The 12" comes into play when I have a really heavy bag due to textbooks, or if I know I'm going to be a in a situation without lots of desk space, or if I'm traveling to a place with lots of theft, etc. It's super duper portable, and has enough power for word/excel and was easy on the wallet.

MBA original still working but showing its age: now mainly use for PowerPoint shows at the school where I teach. It is heading for retirement.

MBA rev B is my main teaching and research machine. Keep it in my teaching bag so I can grab and go when I have class. Well used but works great.

New version MBA 11 2/128 is my business and travel machine for non-academic work. Run Office, Omnifocus, financial software, Tinderbox, Devonthink, etc all at once. Have two book manuscripts on it, tons of case files, other business stuff. This one lives in my business briefcase and has traveled the world.

MBP 15, couple of years old, is my sort of desktop.

I'd be lost without Dropbox and Evernote.
