Easiest way I have done this is to drag a copy of the app I want to replace into photoshop, overlay the image on the original and edit to my specifications and save. Rename the original and then drag my edited version back in to the folder. I believe Gimp will do this as well if you do not have photoshop.

Also recommend that you keep Gridlock because it gives you the freedom to place your icons wherever you want if you are/are not using widgets. Gives you a personal feeling to be able to leave blanks slots in places and it does not affect performance at all.

Editing icons sounds a little difficult lol I was just using the glasklart icons, but without the mask, just the white image portion. They are smaller than regular icons though.

I have read on a couple different forums that people who use gridlock have experienced quite a bit of battery drain. You don't think it eats up your battery? I could never tell what was killing my battery life because I always had so many tweaks installed at the same time. Currently I don't need it, but I'm not opposed to reinstalling it if I have a wallpaper I want to use and it would benefit me to put the icons in different places.

Well if you get rid of the dock through springtomize, it will also get rid of the icon. Springtomize removes the dock completely, so not only do you not see the dock anymore, you can no longer drag icons down to the dock to 'dock,' them there.

Removing the png just gets rid of the background image behind the dock icons, nothing more.

cool, thanx! Gonna give this a try.

I do not see how it could drain the battery, it does not do anything to push, pull or generate images with high resolution that would cause battery use. I may be wrong but my battery will last 24 hours if I did not charge it every night. Just like having full power when I get up in the morning. Since dumping SBSettings and Winterboard my phone is at 40% or higher by the time I go to bed and that is with even chatting on facebook with my daughter for hours.

//var/mobile/Library/Springtomize/Themes/Dock

This is the location to put your custom docks that you want to use with Springtomize. Just create a folder and name it whatever you want. Inside drop your two .png images and name one Dock-iPhone@2x.png and the other Dock-iPhone.png (they can be the same image).

Go to Springtomize themes and select docks, select your newly created folder and respring.

Is this how you would replace an icon on the iPhone? I use the Jaku theme and would like a couple new icons. I have the icons, how do I replace the ones that exist today?

Thanx for the response! However, I just want to remove the dock, not theme it.. Where would I locate the original dock.png file?
