Has anyone else purchased Samsung's wireless charging pad?

Here's the exact one I bought: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/samsung-wireless-charging-pad-white/5039045.p?skuId=5039045

It works as advertised, but I'm trying to figure out if either I'm dumb or if Samsung is dumb. Most people charge their phones at night on their bedside, yet the charging indicator is a very large, very bright blue LED light. When I say bright, I mean "lights up the entire room to the point that I don't see how anyone could sleep" bright.

There aren't any switches on the wireless charging pad to turn the light off/dim it, but I cannot imagine that Samsung would have such a lack of foresight to put a bright LED light on a wireless charging pad that, even from their end, would be used primarily at night.

Does anyone know how to disable it, or should I just take this stupid thing back and find one that'll allow me to sleep?
Yep.. that’s annoying. I used tape just like someone suggested.

If you don’t want to use electrical tape, look at the Mophie chargers. I have the “Charge Force” which is not a quick charge but has a tiny, tiny subtle white LED light. I bought it as my husband does not do well with bright lights in bedroom at night (he unplugs alarm clocks in hotel rooms, etc) and it was also more subtle for using in my office.

I also don’t understand why so many manufacturers insist on flashy lights and glows. I personally am okay sleeping with those sort of lights; I just think they look ridiculous and sort of cheesy. I don’t need to file like I am piloting my spacecraft when I set down my phone to charge.

An entire thread solved with a tiny piece of tape...

Semi-True story: I had a first floor master bedroom at my first house. Every night at around 10PM the neighbors truck would shine it's headlights into the room and wake me up. I tried yelling at, I tried plugging my nose, I even tried drinking an entire bottle of Wild Turkey before bed. Nothing worked. NOTHING. I was losing sleep. It was worse than hell.

Then my future wife stayed over one night, and after the lights from the truck shined in as usual: she told me to close the curtains. Problem solved.

Of COURSE!!! I never thought of just blocking the light!!! How silly of me!:rolleyes::rolleyes:
I hope the fact that it took another person to suggest closing the curtains to block the light is what made this story semi-true.

I don't charge my phone in my bedroom. I grab it from my home office where it charges overnight when I wake up in the morning. If you are insomnia, consider charging your phone outside of your bedroom. It probably helps.

try a piece of black electrical tape over the light ;-) Problem solved cheap and easy LOL

If you are going to modify, open it right up and paint or tape right on the two LEDs. Ifixit has a how to. Very easy, and then it looks clean or original when done.
