I only had my iMac for a few hours before it had to go back for screen issues, but for the short while that I had it I can say that it doesn't need to be any bigger. I had a 24" 2.8Ghz new iMac and while I had seen the white 24" iMacs at Apple Stores, whether it is the new casing, or just seeing it on my desk, I don't think it needs to be any bigger.

There was speculation that Apple might release a 27" iMac or possibly a 30" and I thought that a 27" would have been perfect and was what I hoped for. I use a 27" viewsonic at work. But after having it on my desk I realized that 24" is the sweet spot. I couldn't imagine needing a larger screen. I think it would be too imposing. We're just talking 3" but nonetheless.

And for those who have yet to see the new iMacs. The new aluminum case and black bezel/logo is truly the prosumer machine I always wanted short of a midtower. With 4GB of RAM and a 750GB HDD I don't think I would need the expandability of the tower anyway (Yes I know there are still other arguments for it).

And the new keyboard is very nice. Using it at the Apple Store doesn't give you the same feel that get using it sitting down at a desk. It is great to type with. I am looking forward to my new iMac more now that I had a taste and can't wait for my replacement to arrive.

I also thought a 24" external LCD would be ideal for my MBP, but now I wish I had bought a 30"instead. If the cost difference wasn't so great, I would've had it. No matter what size screen you choose, most will crave more space, unless of course the screen is too big to physically fit in the space you want it to go in.

I wouldn't want a larger iMac than 24", and I doubt they would sell very well anyway.

A larger screen would surely be nice, but not in an iMac. I'd rather have a MacPro and an external display in that case.
But on the other hand, the extra money could just as well go into a display with a higher quality panel.

I think it varies from person to person.

For example, some folks would prefer two 20 or 23 inch displays instead of one 30 inch display.

I dunno, I think 20" is plenty for the average person.
