By the time the watch actually ships, earth will be out of water anyway.

I had started a thread about this last week also. I was going to wear it in the shower until I went for my appointment at Apple this past weekend and the rep there said they do not suggest it, so I think Ill just not try it.

Doesn't it make the screen go crazy?

One of the comments I've often seen from people who shower or swim with a touchscreen smartwatch, is that water makes the screen see lots of phantom touches... especially in a shower with tons of tiny droplets hitting the screen.

These phantom touches cause various options to pop up, get selected, cause notifications to get swiped away, etc.

Has anyone experienced this personally?

If so, wouldn't it need a shower mode (or to be turned off) ?

This makes me very happy.
I wouldn't want to miss an important call or text while showering!

this is why I ordered a sport band haha. My stock band is the classic leather, but I will probably mostly wear the sport. When I have the sport on, it will be used in the shower.

Those talking about cleaning. There is this weird ability we have. You can take it off in the shower to clean your wrist.....weird, I know.

You can also clean the watch during this time. The understand is sure to get funky if you do not clean it with water.

The watch is rated up to:
"Ingress of water in harmful quantity shall not be possible when the enclosure is immersed in water under defined conditions of pressure and time (up to 1 m of submersion)."

"Test duration: 30 minutes"

So it can be submerged 1 meter for 30 minutes, yet can't take a shower? If my watch breaks due to shower damage, I'm driving to the Apple Store to get my FREE replacement watch.

Immersion in water is different to water hitting the watch at higher pressure. This increases the chance of the water slipping inside the digital crown or underneath the screen.

speaking like someone who never studied Fluid dynamics before.... in short. unless you are showering with your high pressure car wash jet, immense in water for 30 minutes will cause water to leak in more.

Water resistant watch that costs £299 - £13,500 and is packed full of electronics in the shower....give it a go and let me know how you get on!

Me personally, I'll just take it off when showering or going to bed.

this. The pressure from a shower is nowhere near enough to cause damage.

I've never understood the obsession with wanting to wear the Watch in the shower... Even if the water wasn't an issue, wouldn't soap pose a threat as well? I was reading a disclaimer for a waterproof phone not too long ago (which was also rated IPx7 if I'm not mistaken) and it specifically stated not to allow the handset to come into contact with soap.

And yeah I know "Tim Cook said!" but I really wouldn't risk it just so you don't have to take a few seconds to remove your watch beforehand!

Okie thanks, I thought the opposite :)

You do want to wear the watch in the shower if you are showering in a gym.

Would not want to leave an expensive watch in the locker.
That's not necessarily true. If you lived in a place like Tokyo or Singapore, you wouldn't have to worry about it. ;)
