Hi guys,

Just wondering for those of you who have ios5 already what are your favourite features?

Mine personally are tabbed browsing in safari and iMessage on the iPad really enjoying this.

Not used the split keyboard so much that will take a while to get use to I think :)

Anything you think I may have over looked please point out.

Thanks

Gestures have eliminated my use of the home button, took several weeks, but it's completely natural now and hate having to use it on iPhone.

Photo album creation.

Spell check without auto correction.

Split keyboard is amazing.

Gestures aren't available on iPhone?

Hi guys. Just wondering...
is there any improve on FaceTime with iOS 5?
I remember that they mentioned it on iOS 5 keynote.

I don't like tabbed browsing.
Had the been set to auto hide and only appeared when the URL was pressed (same as favourites) then it would have been another story.

The updated browser engine makes Safari really snappy and the usability is higher with the tabbed browsing offered (a shame it takes up that much screen real-estate though) and the split-keyboard is much nicer to type on.

Also the multitouch gestures are nice but I have had those enabled since they were introduced via Xcode.

I also like the redesigned Music app and the addition of iMessage.

And for those with iOS 5 I got a question, if I may.

How does it run on an iPad 1 and on an iPod touch 4th Gen compared with iOS 4.3.5? I think everyone knows that iOS 4.3.5 tends to be kind at sluggish at times.

(in no order of preference)

*) Safari & tabs.
*) Wireless syncing(and the ability to still use the device whilst doing so).
iMessage.
*) Photo Album creation(although synced albums still can't be edited. I'd like an option to drag an image in an album to be the album cover).
*) Multitouch gestures rock, even though I've had them for a while, they seem snappier:D now.
*) Split keyboard(in landscape). In portrait, I have no issue whilst thumb typing.

.

If you drag an image from photostream on your ipad into a synced album, does the image show up in that album in iPhoto?

I wish I had a Mac to tell you(I've got a crappy Dell PC, but soon, I'll be rocking some OSX).

Edit: it looks like you can't move images at all on the device. All you can do, is make a new album, and it then shows every image for you to tap and select, then you can place those selections into the new album. You can edit an image(rotate, crop, enhance and red-eye), and it saves the altered image to the camera roll.
The only new thing you can do to synced folders, is drag them to change the list order.

With the new tabbed browsing, is there the an "Open in Tabs" capability (open up a bunch of URLs in tabs) in Safari now?

And are you still limited to only the 9 open windows?

You can, open album, hit edit arrow, drag the one you want to be cover to the front.

Oh I see, but only in an album you've created on the device.
I've just tried it with synced albums, with no joy. :(
So, I guess the only way around this, is to create empty albums on the device, and add the images from the synced albums to them(which could take forever, if you have a few thousand images stored).

For iPhone: iMessage, Reminders, and most of all the new Notification Center.

For iPad: Tabbed browsing and iMessage. Notification center on an iPad is pointless to me other than the roll down status.

iCloud: PhotoStream by far is the coolest. But there's one thing I HATE about PhotoStream... You can't delete photos from it on iDevices. Too many times have accidental screenshots found a new home in my PhotoStream. That, and I had to look at my friends junk for a month while hiding my photos app from onlookers. I have no clue if you can delete them from iCloud.com or not. Great prank, but not for the receiver. Especially if the person has their Apple TV screensaver set to their PhotoStream.

Just be careful with that... Especially if you share an Apple ID.

Agreed. If you have anything embarrassing in there, it's gonna stay there for a month, unless you can fill up 1000 images after it(whatever comes first).

What do you mean you don't have to use the home button anymore on iOS 5? Can you tell me how that works? How do you go back to home screen if you have a full screen app open?
