Hey

I use the app gfxCardStatus but the app itself seems not allow you to switch the GPU's when an app is running that demands the discrete GPU.

I'm running a small app that has no reason to run the big discrete GPU. It must be the app poorly coded and it worked on my old MBP that only had integrated GPU too.

So how can I force switch the GPU to only integrated (and vice versa)?

As far as I know you can force the machine to use the dGPU all the time (even natively I believe) but you have to go through this sort of process:

https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...ntel-integrated-gpu-efi-variable-fix.2037591/

to disable it completely if you don’t want to use it.

It’s worth noting if your old machine was a 2013, 2014 or 2015 MacBook Pro, or a 2016, 2017 or 2018 13” pro it will have been using intel Iris which is much more powerful than the HD 630 integrated graphics on the 2016 and newer 15” pros. That might be the difference.
