force firefox to open .URL files?

is there a way to force firefox to open windows .URL files?

they seem to open fine in safari but not firefox...

Command I on a .url file and change the "open with" application to Firefox (and then press "Change All".

Alternately, you can force any app to open any type of file by holding down command-option while dragging the file over the app's icon in the dock.

hey, thanks for the reply. i tried that (including change all), but when i try to open the file i get this:



i choose firefox again, it repeats, i choose firefox again, it repeats...

am i doing something wrong?

with the help of a macosxhints user, we coded an applescript method to open .URL files in firefox. i include it here in case anyone on an internet search for a olution needs it:
