one thing i don't understand at this moment in time is the use of force touch on the home button, insofar as there is no explanation of what you can do with a heavy touch to a light touch etc...

also whats with the developer API for the home button, or is this for the taptic engine?

any ideas, please let me know!

2 light taps = reachability
2 strong taps = task switcher
hold = Siri

not sure what else you're expecting. There was no discussion about adding additional functions to it.

Actually, Phil Schiller said that the new home button would be able to be programmed by third-party applications. It's about one hour into the keynote.

I'm a little bit disappointed they didn't come up with new uses for the new home button. but i guess it's not easy if you still have to maintain the old functions.

I remember what he said but the only customizing menu I've seen from hands on videos is how the Taptic feels

The video of the announcements Apple has on Facebook states that it's a "customizable home button."
