Other than screen resolution and battery size there should be no other differences. Period!!!

Does this go for iPad and Macs too? Because Apple tends to put better specs and extra features in bigger devices across the board.

I haven't used force touch yet... So this might be a dumb question. But will this technology be able to replace physical buttons? Like in the Macbook?

Because thats my ultimate dream... And iPhone without any physical buttons.

That way nothing can break anymore... (my buttons on all the iPhones I've had became loose, had to be replaced (iPhone 5) and or rattle)...

It does if they wanted to make the 6S+ the more "premium" model over the 6S. Surefire way to piss off fans of the smaller screen size though.

They wouldn't do this because Force Touch is becoming a core feature for Apple this year, not an up-sell feature. It enables new capabilities across their line, and it's a way they can be ahead of the competition again.

Actually that's smart thinking. I'm not sure they'll want to do that (because most people probably like the side buttons), but you can imagine the home button could be replaced and the screen could cover practically the entire face of the phone. Perhaps the fingerprint sensor could be moved to the back ...

It Blows...haven't really seen force touch benefit my MacBook Pro usage or experience.

Its not magical.

Computer hardware is never magical without software. That's an Apple advantage - they control both. While they don't make 3rd party apps, they make some of their own that are both functional and serve as good examples. They provide the entire HW/SW platform developers need, so they can encourage/make most features to get implemented.

You'll need to wait about 6-12 mos. before you start to care about Force Touch.

Didn't Marco Polo say that he hated Force Touch on the new MacBook? That makes me wary of it on the iPhone. It sounds complicated.

Complicated? Pressing harder on a trackpad is complicated? After about 3 minutes of use on the 13" Macbook Pro it felt naturally, I instantly started to force click back on my 15" Macbook Pro and it feels perfectly uncomplicated to me on my Watch too.

Finally, someone with some common sense, I don't know why people with opinions on technology seem to lack it and logical thinking.

Yeah, no way they would of put it on only one size of the iPhones.

I would actually leave apple smartphone if they did this. It'll be just sad to pay extra money just to enjoy that force touch.

Force touch... Meh. Not enough for me to give up the 6.

I'll jump on the wagon again when the 7 drops next year.

Force touch on only one size never made any sense

Yeah, I didn't believe that either after the prominence Apple gave it. Force Touch and 2GB of RAM is probably vital if Apple wants to sell it for the next 2-3 years.

The 7 may drop this year if the rumor that Apple wants to drop the 's' designation is true.

IMO the only necessary upgrade will be the 2GB RAM. Having 2-3 tabs in safari, forcing each one to reload when getting focus is ridiculous in 2015.

"NOW" it's becoming a core feature. You don't know if they wanted it to be an upsell feature previously. The margin is certainly higher on the Plus models. And that is what I was saying.

I like how when I brought up moving the Touch ID to be back a year or so ago I was pretty much called an idiot and now it's a good idea.

Force Choke is already supported today. Just ask someone to shove an iPhone down your throat. ;)

I like getting force choked by hookers. :p

i think this is the year they just drop the numbering system all together. "iPhone 6s plus"? It's all becoming very un-apple. they started out right with the iPad 4 (i believe) and instead went 'iPad' until they felt it was important to highlight how thin and light they were in contrast to the competition. now that everyone is on a relatively equal playing field in size and weight, why should apple tag extra stuff to their product names at this point? they're the most famous company with the comparatively limited selection of products that everyone can name without batting an eye. iPhone. iPad. iMac. MacBook, Macbook Pro etc... All "Airs" and "#s" and "S's" gone

if not this year, i expect a line of singular products fairly soon, only differentiated by category and dimensions - not generation.

My Wish List for iPhone 6s:
2GB Ram
Non-protruding camera lens
Increased battery life (my 6 is just fine but you can always get better)
Sleep/Wake Button moved up about .25-.5" (I always seem to push it when pressing the volume buttons)
iPhone 6s to have rotatable home screen as the Plus does.

I'm not really looking forward to Force Touch as I haven't liked it on the MacBook and Apple Watch so far when playing with it.
Extra battery life is always welcome.

I have not got the new macbook yet. Can you detail your Force touch experience and how / where do you use it? How is the battery on the new macbook compared to the air? Any information you provide will help some of us to make a decision on buying the new macbook.

Not a huge fan of force touch on the watch (it's used to call up a menu of actions on some screens).

The problem is that I keep forgetting it's there (there's no "affordance", to use the correct usability term). The end result is that I just shrug and assume the watch simply can't do the function I was wanting to do.

Consider a concealed door with no hinges or doorknob visible. It looks just like a flat panel. Without any visible affordance (the doorknob) you might not even think it's a door. Like this:

I'm still using an iPhone 5 because the only hardware upgrade I care about is 2GB of RAM. It's quite unfortunate that the latest iPhone, especially the 6+, struggles because of limited RAM.

I'd also really like for them to remove the protruding camera and increase the battery life; I don't want to have to spend another $120 on a Mophie.
