Forced migration of Apple ID to

    I've been having trouble logging into today.

    My apple id is

    I login with my address and password:
    - prompted to verify my address.
    - An email saying that I changed my Apple ID to
    - Same popup asking me to verify my address remains on-screen.

    I try to login with my address and password:
    - same as above

    I try to login with my address and password:
    - same as above.

    So, I try the following:

    I try to login with my address and password:
    - when the pop-up asks me to verify my address, I change it to
    - this time, I get an email with a verification code
    - the popup now prompts for verification code.
    - I enter code and it works.
    - I get thanked for changing my apple id !?

    Slowly, the change ripples across my half a dozen devices... uugh...

    Were we warned about this?

    My ****** still logs me in fine.
    Hope it was just a glitch.

    I am very attached to my address… :(

    The reason you're having trouble is likely due to iCloud having a lot of service-wide issues currently, namely concerning sign in. You can check the current service status at the link below.

    Edit: I misread your post a bit, but it sounds like the other part of what happened may be realated to these problems and doing that on a certain page may have caused it to think you're changing your primary to You may want to contact Apple support to see if there's any way they can get it switched back for you, if you can't do so yourself at I know I'd be pretty annoyed if I suddenly had to sign in with instead of the address I've used for everything since 2006.

    yr mileage may vary, but over the years I have found that logginginto ANY and ALL iCloud services with the same @name (either me, mac, or iCloud) seems to help with better syncing and overall fewer problems).

    During the outage I was forced to change from to
    Went to this morning to change it back.
    Choosing returns an error but choosing the works fine

    However I can still log in perfectly with

    Hope i'll be able to reset as a default apple id

    I use an email address unrelated to Apple in any way as my Apple ID.
