I use iPad mini for bed browsing and I think it's big I don't understand how do ppl use father iPad!

6 inch size would badass and unique to the iPod product line!

I'd love the iPod line-up to be this in 2015:

  • iPod Play - the plastic, colourful iPod marketed as a gaming device. Replacement for the iPod Touch.
  • iPod Air - the 5.5-6 inch device made for internet surfing and watching videos.
  • iPod Shuffle - the 4th gen Shuffle, but with Siri and more colours.
  • iPod Nano - plastic backed, with a redesigned UI (more in line with iOS 8). It would have WiFi, to download music from the iTunes store.

This won't happen though ;-;

Yeah... iPods are getting obsolete. I still love my old 3rd generation iPod touch though:D

ditch the ipod touch.
kids want an ipad mini, not an ipod touch.

ipod should just be - ipod shuffle - make it 8gb - ipod nano - make it 32gb

there. 2 models.

Having a Play and an Air sounds extremely redundant to me

I think there will be the iPad Nano which will be an A7 based 4.7 inch iPod Touch replacement or an A7 base 4 inch iPod Touch 6 if there is any update at all.

Going from a 2.5 inch screen on the current nano to a 4.7 inch screen. Yeah, okay.
The iPod touch would be lucky to get a6, let alone a nano getting an a7.
The reality is that iPod is dead

I didn't say the iPod Nano was being replaced by the iPad Nano - rather that the touch would be replaced by the iPad Nano.

I said that either the iPod Touch will be replaced by a larger screened device labeled as an iPad Nano, or will be a 4 inch design, and it will retain the iPod Touch monicker.

Reality is that there is still a market for the iPod, and may not be you, but that doesn't mean there is not a market. Half the reason that sales have died down, is Apple's lack of updates - especially with the touch.

As others said, the lack of sales is coming from a lack of updates. Update the iPod line, give it a marketing push and bam ;)

I agree with you. However, the reason why Apple has not done that yet is because it hasn't allocated its efforts to work on it. It is working as hard as possible on the Apple watch and iPad pro and retina macbook air, which are all completely new products. Quite frankly, the sales and profit margins on these devices will be incredible compared to an updated iPod touch. I guess after the iPad pro and Apple watch and retina macbook air are released, Apple will then use the iPhone 6 design for the 6s, and keep the iPad design the same, and then will have time to release a new touch. So if anyone is still reading, my final guess would be iPod 6th gen in Fall 2015. Unless of course Apple decides to enter even more product categories!

You do realize that iPad Mini, iPad Air, & iPhone 6 are all inspired from the iPod 4th & 5th gen. iPod always had the sleekest built, so to be true to the title of being called Air, it would have to be really thin, like Katana thin, ~4mm.

A new iPod Touch with a similar form factor/screen size to the 6 Plus would be sweet. Small enough for pockets, big enough for gaming/music/whatever.

I just have a feeling the iPad mini kinda replaced the iPod Touch over since it's release. Most (or some) that would have had an iPod Touch (teens, pre-teens) now just go for the mini.

Yeah, but there's still a market for the people who don't want a large device/aren't trusted with one (kids). Before you say iPhone, that's stupid. iPhones are much more expensive :|

Old iPhones make the best iPod Touches.

Why buy your kid a $200-$300 new iPod Touch when you can hand-me-down them an iPhone 4, for example, that will do what the kid needs it to do, for much, much less?

Because a 4-year-old device isn't suitable for some people, and that's why the iPod touch was being sold and updated up until recently. The iPod touch was intended to be for those who want the technology of the iPhone, without the cost of a data plan and cellular network. It's just unfortunate it's gotten updated less frequently the past few years.

All things aside, I'm really hoping for a new iPod touch, and have been for over a year now, and now I'm hoping more for a 4.7 and 5.5 inch options to match the iPhone 6 models.

A used 4s online is way cheaper than a new 5th gen iPod Touch. And the specs aren't very apart either I bet.
