I’m in. But I’m confused so they jumped from 8 to X (ten) and back to 9? They should’ve called this iPhone X just like the alphabet and continue on with 9, then 10, 11 etc etc. .
Yup, pronounced X like the letter. Blew a good branding opportunity.. X, X2, X3, etc.

By going back to 9, it's just weird. These iPhone lineups are getting messy with too much overlap and confusing names. Cookie-cutter iPhones produced every year like Disney will milk MCU and Star Wars until the end of time.

Apple wants to become Baskin-Robbins and offer us 32 different flavors of iPhones but never update their other product lines unless they feel like it. The consistency, simplicity, and minimalism is gone.

When Apple becomes Walmart and McDonald's. In more schools, iPhones will be found in most vending machines.

agree. They could always flip it and start going that route next year even though its a bit weird for them to after calling it the ten.
It would be better for a naming system instead of going up past 9..10..wait already had a 10. yea they need something fresh.

Special edition Seriously should’ve been called X, not 10.

With the cluster **** they have now with the naming conventions they should rebrand the phones and just say iPhone SE, iPhone, iPhone Plus. Small, medium, and large respectively. Simple.

And as for iPhones not getting updates, I disagree. One of the best thing about apples ecosystem is that everything is unified. When they release an update. Mostly all of the idevices will get them unless they are obsolete. Not like android fragmentation to the roof.

I agree. That would’ve been the more logical thing to do in my opinion. Plus, iPhone X sounds cooler than iPhone 10 :p

I️ am looking forward to the X plus in 2018. I️ am returning my X And sticking with my 7 Plus. Glad I️ didn’t put it up for sale. For me the Plus width is better than the X. I️ will miss the Face ID.

I think next year will be the iPhone X and X Plus (there is rumoured to be a 6.4” in the works) I don’t think it will add anything drastic tho and will probably be a small update (this year was the big update with iPhone X)

Hahaha I love this
People are already assuming there will be a plus model next year. Apple has already finalized next years iPhone.

I so ecstatic for that 6" LCD bezel-less iPhone 9, hurry up Apple! Sticking with my iPhone 6 for now. Hopefully without the ugly notch :D

How wouldn't it have the notch and still get the faceID tech and front facing camera into it? People are just making up products out of thin air like its magic.

I think this was the last year for the 4.7 iPhone LED model. Next year does make sense they might have one newly updated LED model offered in one size.
Neh. IPhone 8s/9 will still happen 1 or 2 more years as the base model.

X / X2 / Xs / X Plus/Pro / X Mountain Lion will be the premium.

In the grand scheme of things, this was an excellent launch. Next iPhone launch will be the X in the current body and in a plus body. Current X buyers will "upgrade" to the bigger version next year, and people who skipped due to size will upgrade for the form factor. If apple had released a plus size and the current size, there would be little reason to get a new phone next year.

That is the long way of saying that I am actually excited about the iPhone in two years, the one that we don't see coming. X Plus we can see coming a year away.

I doubt we will see an iPhone 9 or 9 plus. The days of the home button are gone, just like the headphone jack. Next year, back to 2 models. the iPhone 11 and 11 plus, or whatever they call it, both with OLED screens and no home button. So if you want the home button buy a 7 or 8, as those will still be built.

I’m willing to bet that Apple didn’t miss a branding opportunity by not calling the X by the letter. My guess is the people that they employ with their multitudes of degrees and decades worth of cumulative experience in said field say that they didn’t miss a branding opportunity...

I mean let’s face it, Apple is one of the best when it comes to marketing. My guess is they thought about it and decided against it.

I don’t expect too much for the next 3 years... new colors, a lot more Animoji.... speed bumps, better cameras, and little design tweaks, like the 6-8 era...

I agree with this idea. We do not have Macbook 3, or ipad 4, they are just called Macbook and iPad (but we all know their generation number)

It just seems that Apple has something for everybody at the moment. I think even if they narrowed it down, they would still need about 4-5 current phones to make everyone happy (a 4" basic phone, a 4.7" touch ID phone, a 5.5" + version, a flagship, and a plus version of that flagship)

I think apple will release a 9/9+ with the legacy design and iPhone X will just get a spec bump. Then in 2019 the iPhone XI will get a plus revision and the legacy design will be phased out.
