Forget the full Mac OS X, just add...

That's great that they got Apple TV to run the full Mac OS X. But that really doesn't interest me. However, if they modded the original Apple TV OS to:

    1. provide usb/bluetooth support for both wired/wireless keyboard & mouse.

    2. added both email and web browser to the OS.

    3. hacked/modded the Apple TV interface with an Application section in the true Apple TV look so that you can access both Mail and Web browser, surf the web and just as easily flip back to Apple TV for viewing/playing sync'd and streamed content.

That would make it a very versatile machine. Original purpose, added benefits, still simple.

    Sounds Good

Sounds all good, all I want is to be able to shut it down (not standby). Oh and the addition of an external hd would be nice too :)
