It isn't a wedding, just an event that forces a dress code. It actually allows dress pants (I just re-read the code), so I think I'm good on that front, although sometime soon I may need to tailor my old pants if I can't lose the amount of weight on time with my new diet.

EVENING DRESS CODE
Gentlemen must wear a coat and tie, dress pants and dress shoes.
Women may to choose to wear a dress or blouse and skirt. A pant suit is acceptable as long as it is accompanied with a blazer.
Military dress (no fatigues), ethnic, and/or religious attire is welcome.

Unacceptable Attire for Evening Visits
No denim, zippered jackets, polo shirts, T-shirts, shorts, sandals, flip flops, sneakers, leggings (unless worn with a skirt or dress), capri or cut-off pants, or skorts.

Yet for some reason I want to get the right watch band, lmao. A friend of mine mentioned that a good watch was required for a full decent outfit, but I'd just rather get a band than purchase a new luxury watch. The event has a door and dinner fee, so if I can save money on other fronts, without cutting too many corners, that would be desirable.

You could get a good, dressy-looking solar quartz Seiko or Citizen for about as much as an Apple leather strap. Might even be able to score a self-winding (aka "automatic") watch for the same money which would look nice enough.

I'm just thinking of excuses to buy more watches. ;)

How much time have you got, and how much weight?

You could easily get away with different pants that complement/contrast with the jacket, I'd wager. "Military dress (no fatigues)", as I read it, means a service uniform, which is like office attire, and not necessarily a full-on dress uniform. Buuuut, I would err towards a dress uniform.

As I transition from military to civilian life, I already know I'm gonna miss the simplicity of getting guidance to wear a particular uniform for an event. "What are we wearing? Service 'B' with tie? Got it." Easy-peasy. :p

Know anybody who's been to this place before?

I don't know the weight number exactly, but however much I need to lose to shave two inches off my waist. Only have two weeks. Trying to get from a 32 inch waist to a 30 inch waist.

I actually don't know anybody personally who's been there. Well I used to, was my old boss, but we're not really on speaking terms right now, haha. It's extremely exclusive, borderline invite-only. If there's any folks here that live in Los Angeles I'd rather say through a private message--it really is a once in a lifetime sort of thing if you know somebody to get you in and I can totally hook up peeps here.

I don't care what the miracle weight loss milkshakes say; two inches in two weeks would be difficult. It'd be easier to tailor your existing trousers or buy new ones.

Whatever you choose, no need to worry. Just don't screw it up or you'll regret it forever. ... ;)

Don't know if this is out of topic, but what watch face configuration do you use when attending formal events?a wedding for example?

The simple watch face with all the complications off and the detail turned all the way down with whatever second hand color you'd prefer.

It ends up looking like this

I used Utility at the lowest detail setting with no complications (posted a pic in the first page). It has small, square pips for hour markers, so it's a little easier for me to read the time, and the markers kinda remind me of the tiny diamonds on my Rado's dial.

It's a great-looking smartwatch, but it's also just not going to be as pretty or sparkly as a traditional watch. No electronic display will play with the light like a sunburst-brushed dial and faceted hour markers can do. But a tasteful configuration can look pretty nice.

Are you really supposed to coordinate your watch strap with your shoes? I have brown shoes I wear to work so I'd want a brown leather band? I have a SS watch with a black sport band and a bird party stainless steel band so far but would like a leather option too

Hi guys, just thought I'd update you all on what I've decided in terms of a band.

The more I thought about it, the more I wanted to classic leather to match my buckle and shoe buckle. I tried to get the first party one to no avail, as it's not in stock in a ton of places. I opted to get the Monowear black leather strap from Best Buy, the fact that it was on sale helped too.

I do want the stainless steel black Milanese. I'm thinking that when I upgrade my watch I'll simply buy the bundle that includes it. I've already been experiencing haptic issues that Apple has branded a "non-issue", so more than likely I'll be upgrading some time after the Watch 2 is released.

Once again, thank you all for your input and I hope you enjoy your weeks! If you want, I can return to this thread later on to snap pics with the new band.

Just had the same conundrum re: getting a formal band for parties and events. Ended up getting a black Milanese loop which looks great and totally would recommend it. Although I have a midnight blue classic buckle as well which looks great with the black Apple Watch and has a formal look to it as well (although I need to find a way to replace those silver stainless steel lugs to match the space black case).

Just wondering, what is this special event? I'm from la originally and will be moving to West Hollywood from NYC next month so would love to check out some cool places (...and events :). ). Thanks and have a great time at the event.
