I accidentally formated one of my external HDs with files on it, anyway i can get the files back? I have not put anything on the HD since then. Any software anyone can recommend for me to get my files back? I did not do any kind of write drives to zero or anything like that, just a basic format/partion.

Take a look at Data Rescue. I believe they have a trial version (as in if it can recovery, then you buy it).

I've heard that Data Rescue is a good app for the purpose.

Agreed. The best chance of saving anything is to not touch the drive, and just attempt to use that program to see if it can recover anything.

Can Data Rescue II recover files from a drive I accidentally initialized? In certain cases, yes. Try the free demo of Data Rescue II to see if these files are still available to be recovered.
