I got a used macbook air late 2010 and the previous owner bought and installed Lion on it. When I do the lion recovery it asks for the apple id that was used to download Lion. What can I do to get an operating system back?

Last time I checked, the 2010 Air has a USB recovery drive. Use that. If you don't have one, download Snow Leopard and stick it in your USB drive.
