Is it possible to format my boot camp partition without a XP disk? I tried Vista and backed up my XP partition, now i want to restore it but my XP disk keeps telling me that the partition that boot camp made cannot be formatted when i select FAT. is it possible to format it for FAT without having to use the XP disk? i cant access the disk on the desktop, only in disk utility. i have my old bootcamp HD backed up and all i need to do is to be able to copy all the files into the new partition.

You might be better off deleting the BootCamp partition using the utility.

Applications/Utilities/BootCamp Utility

Follow the wizard to delete the BootCamp partition. After that, restart for good measure, open up the utility again and create a new BootCamp partition just like you did when you installed Windows the first time.
