Formatting External Hard Drive

Formatting an external hard drive to be used with "Paragon"for both Mac & XP, There are several options:
"Mac OS Extended (Journaled)"
"Mac Os Extended"
"Mac OS (FAT)"
"exFAT"
Which is recommended ?

exFAT will allow you to read/write to the disk in both OS X and Windows.

Or you could format in Windows to NTFS, then Paragon would allow you to read/write in the Mac side.
