i got my macbook 2 weeks ago and i formatted last week, i want to format again this week for the final time.. can multipl formatting harm my laptop ?

my format took much longer then normal and had a few failures in the log, is there a way to see if everything went ok?
i don't notice any problems...

you dont need to worry about your hard drive every time you write/delete your files.

  • On a mechanical HDD you can write forever without anything bad happening.
  • On a SSD you would have to write (I beleive) about 30GB a day for 5 years to kill a drive.

Formatting only writes about 100MB (which less than browsing the web for for 5 min).

Reinstalling OS X writes about 4-9GB depending on the version (about the size of a HD movie from iTunes).

EDIT: 30GB a day is for a 80GB SSD. Larger capacities will have higher endurance.
