After splitting my HDD in 2 partitions, is it possible to format my OS X partition or will I have to format the entire disk to format.

yes its possible to format just the osx partiton to free space and not damage the windows partition. i going to do some research for the application i used on the windows side of things and i'll post it soon.

now for some reason disk utility has to format the entire disk so don't use it.
