when top execs begin to leave, a reason must be…
Lack of vision and leadership are now a fact at Apple. So sad… but every company who stops innovating has the same ending.
Apple has an extedended life because the Chinese brand is not allowed to compete …
Apple is popular all over the world. Not just the US. The Chinese phones have nothing to do with. Also I would not trust the Chinese brands.

Um, not to rain on your parade but Apple markets and sells products to every corner of the world where people can afford to buy their products. There are wealthy enough people in lots of poorer countries with iPhone pros, MacBook Pros and AirPod pros.

Disney have at most two and a half profitable theme parks on the planet. The two profitable ones are in the USA.

With all due respect, your perspective is a bit skewed.

The option you’re imagining would be valid if it was marketed as an opinion to all site of tourist interested, big or small, worldwide.
Even a very quick Google search shows you're wrong, they do make profit from their theme parks and the increased profit from international parks is subsidising a dip in US parks

If the Netflix deal goes through, what are the chances Apple buys Disney?
Honestly, since I've not heard of their interest in acquiring a (any) competing streaming service or studio. I'd say it's safe to say it's not gonna happen. They seem to be OK with the go it your own way for now route. Outside of getting the rights to stream some content. I personally would have expected Apple to make a bid for WB-Discovery-HBO. Just to be in the mix. It would have certainly added a huge library of shows/movies to the AppleTV catalog. And potentially gotten more of their original content out to the broader public.

Wondering if it's more of a PITA to manage all these studios and their specific programing, airing rights and other distribution deals. Plus any future content already planned that just gets too complicated to be worth the work. Since Apple likes to control everything when and where possible. Having that many new brands under their belt would be too much to focus on that they would have to leave them to run themselves. Which effectively is the cause of them being sold in the first place. Why would anyone want to let them manage themselves when they couldn't do so properly in the first place?? Not that they don't have great shows/movies. But, it's usually something that went wrong as to why they need to sell or be sold.

...I can’t imagine spending 200–300 hours a year serving as a Disney board member.

If they want. Being a BOD is much less about prepping for major decisions vs. simply being in "that club". I once had the experience of being part of a team that made a detailed presentation to a major corporate board re: a huge acquisition. Many of the BOD's questions on the day of the presentation clearly showed they had done no prep work whatsoever. Questions along the line of, "How does their technology work?" (It was most a technology acquisition.) Shocking, but these were "club members" who were only going to vote according to what the CEO/Chairman advised. So why prep? Lack of real oversight by BOD plagues many, many USA corps. Disney's BOD has been judged by many to fit into this category. JW could be in it simply for the $250+K plus 4+ lush travel reimbursements per year. Nice work if you can get it (into the "club" that is). Shudder to think what will happen now that JW and other board members can simply create a NotebookLM with the prep materials, and spend 9 minutes listening to what the Gemini podcast summarizes for them. (Actually, this may be a big improvement based on my real world experience.) HTH, NSC

ps: NotebookLM was sarcasim (I think)

Good to know. Would have been better if he planned to join Apple's board.

I don't know about that. I think fresh perspectives vs. continuation of the old guard is what a solid Board of Directors can bring to an organization.

It’s that going to be his only job and will he be working from the office (I.e not remotely)?
We have been told that it’s a no-no, unethical and stealing having two or more jobs, and that working outside of office is for slackers.
Yet many of these CEOs and founders have besides their main job: multiple board directing jobs, invitational conferences jobs, speakers jobs, some founders/entrepreneurs even juggle more than one company, and are usually never in the office more than a day a week.
