I blame Samsung tbh. They probably copied his name like they copy everything else.
Because it’s the exact same as certain apple fans saying to individuals that your poor or inferior for having an android deviceno one forced him to change his name, he made a choice. that being said, this entire situation is the result of customers being terrible people. his name was sam sung, so what? why were people harassing him for it?
??? I don't know how you read this as Apple punishing him. It sounds very much like he was pulled from the shop floor because the general public / internet morons were harassing him. A retail outlet shouldn't allow their staff to be harassed by the general public, so they took him off the floor to stop him being harassed. Why did Apple seemingly punish him? Removing him from the floor seems excessive. Apple can be so annoying sometimes.
Saying "we won't hire you because of your name" is a lawsuit waiting to happen. It‘s not like Apple didn‘t know his name while hiring him?
Despicable that they’re making news of this. Leave the guy alone, you can get ad revenue from other sources.MacRumors: Former Apple Employee Sam Sung changed his name to avoid attention.
Also MacRumors: *posts a front page article about it and gives him even more unwanted attention*
Yep, it's not a case of reporting a story, it's a case of perpetuating the meme.Despicable that they’re making news of this. Leave the guy alone, you can get ad revenue from other sources.
You’re too uptight. For all Apple’s faults I don’t think they’d fire him for having a name. I can totally understand why he’d not want to be identified as an over decade old internet joke. Also I used to frequent that Apple Store before moving out of Vancouver.
The guy feared that he'd lose his job and he ended up feeling that he had to legally change his name, it's understandable he wasn't seeing the funny side, and he obviously did care for more than 30 seconds. You’re too uptight.
Embrace the funny side and carry on.
No one cares more than 30 secs, remember?
You “guarantee” it?I guarantee you he faced horrible racist comments from customers. Shame on Apple for doing nothing to help this employee other than give him an 15 minute break and making him hate his own name.
Did you even read the entire article? The guy feared that he'd lose his job and he ended up feeling that he had to legally change his name, it's understandable he wasn't seeing the funny side, and he obviously did care for more than 30 seconds.

His name wasn't an issue. His name becoming a meme was the issue.
But they didn't reject him. There's little point in debating something that didn't happen.Do you really think Apple would tell him this in their rejection?
