He was a jerk, but I wouldn't mind advise from him for my startup.

I totally agree with you. He can be jerk but his contributions to iOS is invaluable. In the same way as, without Sculley - Apple wouldn't be what it is today.

Young startups have lots to benefit from minds like Forstall. :apple:

...and he was not ashamed of Snapchat.

I hope Scott reads this. Honestly I'm heart broken. I loved the older design of the iOS. I believed it was easier for many older customers to understand. I know that apple doesn't build its operating system around seniors but I'm willing to bet that many seniors may have a hard time understanding it. I don't mind the new system but I don't like it either. I preferred the stylized leather back ground in iCal. The clean look of the new is is beautiful. Just not easy to learn if you are an older person coming into an operating system for the first time.

iOS 8 was a mess. 8.3 however is not.

iOS 8.3 has been almost as buggy and flaky as the betas and 8.0/8.1 for me on an iPhone 6. I've had numerous springboard crashes throughout the day since installing, and my messages keep disappearing until I restart. 8.2 was by far the most stable iOS 8 release for me thus far. 8.3 has felt like a major step backward for me.

Don't care really what you think about my opinion.

Your opinion should be based on some form of sound logic. Apple has never been better. I'd be hard pressed to say Scott could have done a better job. Tim is the right person for the job, today. I can't say in a year from now I will feel the same.

Don't forget Steve Jobs made some huge mistakes in his first term. He was nowhere near perfect.

Scott Forstall: ****s up maps
Tim Cook: Apopogize
Scott Forstall: No

That's how he's a jerk

To put it another way, he was a pompous ass who refused to take responsibility for any wrongdoing.

Did ive apologized for bending iphone6 or antennagate (enginners warned him and jobs about that but no, they still went with that design )? Did cook apologized or did anything about pealing retina macbooks?

----------

iOS 8 is everything but a mess

It is one of the most buggy and slow version of ios to date. Design is a matter of taste but it wont win awards for sure.

Scott, welcome back from the hiatus and the world travel. Your wife have that baby along the way? What party did you hang at for this to come about?

I bet this is a stock only deal for him.

I delt with the guy back when he was just a software engineer at NeXT and doing a ton of NeXT UI work. Amazing how many very good software engineers didn't even get an interview over there as he was defending his turf and his access to Steve. Any criticism of the NeXT UI he took personally. Still amazed he got where he did.

Am I the only one who can't figure out how to use that app?

IMO, the Snapchat UI is the part of the Digital Natives UI for those who grew up with computers and do not need metaphoric icons. Still amazed how many desktop apps still have floppy drive icon buttons for save.

It is akin to those who grew up in cars and know nothing about riding a horse or using reins to lead a horse drawn carriage. If you don't get how to use this app, you are not a digital native.

As opposed to the a$$ki$$er$ running the show now.

btw, so was Steve, along with many other visionaries.

Many have tunnel vision to achieve their goals. Imagine Charles Babbage or Alan Turing not having had this type of arrogance that makes them "jerks", the invention of the computer might have been delayed or taken on very different forms.

He stole your g/f by the sounds of it ?

And your job ? :D

Enjoying life in the self-deluding tech bubble ?

Personally I miss this guy's wild enthusiasm on stage. On stage he was as good as Jobs was - the belief in his eyes. (Or should I say his eye?)

If they lived and died by the sword as they claim they should have fired themselves long time ago, but no ... bunch of hypocrites.

Right. First of all, how the heck is Snapchat worth 15 Billion? Fifteen Billion? Is the evaluator on crack or something or does Snapchat have something more than a glorified buggy and insecure picture messaging service?

Apple maps is still a disaster. How Apple can in good conscious promote it on devices such as their apple watch as a benefit is a mystery.

Apple Maps works just fine for me and a quite like it.
What doesn't work is the craptastic 'flat' look that iOS and OSX have gone to. Time to dump Cook and replace him with Forstall.

That so many act and post with such certainty about someone whom they never met, worked with, or knows anybody who did is fun to read. This new twist on silly gossip maybe is why Snapchat and most "social media" companies are valued at stupid levels, as some say the users are.

Crashes and lag

I've grown to love the design changes that were made post iOS6....but....

Ever since he left both iOS and OS X have had more bugs, crashes, UI glitches and lag. I mean the laggy spotlight keyboard bug in iOS7 didn't get fixed until a few months ago.
