I read a lot of people who upgraded from a non-Plus iPhone to the iPhone 8 Plus.

How is your adjusment to the new form factor, so far?

From 7 to 8 plus (tried a Galaxy S8 Plus too). 7 obviously lighter and easier to carry. Battery life difference is night and day. Seems like the 8 plus gets twice the life off a charge. The keyboard on the plus is awesome. Much better than the cramped version. Other than that it’s just nice to have the extra screen. I’ll handle the weight and size for the upgrades.

no cramped hand after using your 8 Plus?

I went from a 6 to the 8+. The adjustment has been good and bad. On the good side all the upgrades coming from a 6 combined by the bigger screen and incredible performance has been great.

I had to move my 6 to another room as I was having trouble looking at the size of the phone and comparing it to the size of the 6. The big size looked kind of weird to me but I think that's just an adjustment that will come fast. The other adjustment is getting used to holding the big phone in my hand and also the size in my pocket. After 2 days it's already becoming normal.

Overall the improvements has far outweighed any other issues.

are you mainly wearing skinny jeans or 'normal fitted' jeans?

While it definitely takes some getting used to it's fine so far. Especially since I've got a case, as it makes the phone feel less 'fragile'. Even reaching with my thumb to the other side of the screen works, though I really have to make an effort to do so. Not in such a bad way that my hands start feeling cramped or anything.

When I went from my iPhone 4s to the iPhone 6 'back in the day' it felt pretty big too. It became a very normal size to me and the iPhone 4s felt even too small. Not having the same thought about iPhone 7, but it feels definitely weird after having hold an iPhone 8 Plus for a while. Noticed that when I was making some comparison photos the other day.

It will become second nature quickly I think. :)

What about the weight of the phone? I'm considering the 8+ but my major concern is the weight. I even thought that the 6s (non +) back then was too heavy. 202g sounds ridiculously heavy, but I'd love to have a bigger display on the other side. (X is not market-ripe in my personal opinion)

Well, it doesn't feel light at all. But coming from an iPhone 7 with Smart Battery Case, the difference is almost negligible. Heck, it feels even lighter, I'd say.

Good question.

I moved from a 5s to an 8+. The size of the phone is something I’m already used to after a week of use. I do miss the pocketability of the smaller phone though, and how quickly it could be picked up and used with one hand.

However, the improvements to my phone experience that the large high quality screen has allowed makes it worth it. Being able to use my phone for extended periods for work, photography and browsing is something I missed with the 5s.

There was a period when I was using a nexus 6P during my 5s run. Comparing that large phone’s dimensions with this one, I have to say the 8+ just feels better. I can even use with one hand for longer than the 6p ever allowed. Don’t actually know the difference in dimensions between the two, but the 8+ is preferable in everyway to me.

Finally, off topic somewhat; I’ve long been looking at getting an iPad after only owning the first generation all those years back. Initially after unboxing and using the 8+, I strangely started to think perhaps it’s not worth getting an iPad too, given the large screen of the 8+. But over the week the screen seems normal and not giant anymore and I again see how hugely different the use of a 10.5 or 12.9 screen would fit into my life compared with the large phone.

Lol, why would there be?

I made the leap from the 6S to 7+ last year. Use it a few days and you’ll be fine.

Now the Plus models seem like the normal, default option to me. And the 4.7” iPhones seem undersized.

My gloves are usually a size medium.

thanks for all your feedback about this! :) ....so it will be just a manner of time (days) regarding the adjustment to the 'new' weight and size of the 8 Plus.
