I love the light, color and textures of the foreground. It has a real 'presence.' I feel as though I could reach out and touch those bits along the bottom edge of the frame (again, I feel as though they're a bit too close to the edge, but I'm picky about such things).

Now this one I did cut that way deliberately. There's some large pipes on the engine just below where I cut that are too distracting (at least they were to me). So I cut it just above the distracting bits and left the interesting bits.

Later today I can post the uncut version to see if you agree with me. I also have a couple more punchy processed rusty stuff I can post when I'm done with them.

No need to apologize, I believe its in our nature as human beings to find the negative. I am not a professional photographer nor do I claim to be. I'm not looking for perfection in shot.

Educ8r: An interesting subject, but something seems "not quite right." Maybe someone else can help, but I think it's not quite in focus. Or the aperture number is too low? (Or maybe it's just a difficult subject to shoot well? Or, it could even be your hosting company: I'm not familiar with skitch.com) I'm sorry to be negative, and wish I could tell you how to improve.

Since both of us have similar issues with a number of our shots, maybe someone with more knowledge than I can help educate both of us as to how we can improve?

Also: Perhaps this is an ideal subject to give a try at HDR to bring out the details?

Here's the another punchily processed car.

As it turns out the uncropped version is also a partially unprocessed version. So you can see a sort of "before" picture before I did the extra processing for the detail work. And, you can see the pipes I didn't like that I cropped out. I'm uploading it directly here since I didn't put it on flickr.

Yeah, I see what you mean. The pipes are out of focus, so they aren't helping.

Had hardly the time to follow this thread or go outside and shoot.
However this week our daughter had a chance to play with the 'big' girls. Couldn't miss that of course.
Seeing her among girls 4 or 5 years older made her very young and small.

OOps! Kind of let time get away from me... As if that never happens.:D

I'll open the next Challenge with the last topic to gather the highest number of votes in the last poll. which is Colors. I will open a discussion thread to determine the following two Monday or earlier. My Google docs folder has a text document of the topics from the last round.

Here's a Shortcut.
