Forum suggestion: New Mac mini icon

Okay I admit this is a bit nit picky, and it may seem a case of OCD, but: the Mac mini icon for its own subforum is still the space grey one, as can be seen here.

I know the silver color, used here for the Mac Studio and the Mac Pro, is quite similar, but it is noticeable that the mini is darker. I mean, the Mac mini was grey only for the 2018 refresh, but since the introduction of the 2020 M1 mini, the color has remained silver again. That’s almost 4 years with the mini being only available in silver, even for the M2 Pro model!

Maybe for the incoming M4 Mac mini they will reintroduce a darker shade of grey, perhaps for the M4 Pro model only. Or maybe they redesign it for the next generation, who knows.

But for the time being, silver is still the iconic color of the mini, as it is for the Studio and the Pro. So please make the Mac mini icon silver like its bigger siblings.

PS: Any idea why mini is written in lowercase and Studio & Pro are uppercase?

We'll work on getting that updated. We need to get icons for the new iOS 18/iPadOS 18/macOS Sequoia forums uploaded as well.

The "mini" is lowercase in the forum name because we're following Apple's styling.

I've noticed the color being "incorrect" (that is, not aligning with the newest one), but I don't really care, honestly. It's fine!

Hi!

I wanted to resurrect this thread, originally intended to make the forum icon color more accurate, and use it to now suggest to change the Mac mini icon to the new design.

Although this could be confusing for new threads referring to older Intel or M1/M2/M2 Pro Mac minis, I think most of the future threads on the forum will be about the new M4/M4 Pro Mac minis. And having the new design as icon for the Mac mini sub-forum would be nice.

Just a suggestion, if I’m allowed: Be careful with the size and scale of the icon, because it could end up looking like a Mac Studio If you make it too big.
