I found an iPad Air (model A2902) in the backseat of a taxi and have been trying to find the owner.
What I've tried so far:
- Charged and turned on so owner can use FindMy feature and hopefully contact? Nothing.
- Looked in emergency / owner contact area to see if I could find their info and reach out to them. No luck
- Took it into Apple store to see if they could find owner and they couldn't help me either. I was surprised by this - should I try again?

They have the security lock on so it requires email of owner to open without passcode, but of course I don't know the email.

What else can I do? If I can't find the owner, am I able to jail break the unit so at least i can use it?

Thanks in advance

Why would you take it from the cab?

Whoever lost it is obviously going to call the cab company first.

No. Need to take it to Apple and prove it is yours.

And you cannot get help on this site to try circumventing security locks, so, turn it in to the police or the cab company.
