So I've found an iPod touch during one of my walks through the neighbourhood trails. I took the iPod in with me the first, then the following day dropped it back off in a zip lock bag so it would survive wet weather etc and figure perhaps the person would come by there again to look for it. Well 8 days later the thing is still there so I took it.

The thing of course has no info on it, since its not like an iPhone that is always 'online' the person who lost it can't really trace it or send a message to pop up telling me what to do or call to return it..since i can't really get it on Wifi due to the lock screen & passcode its basically a dud now...

Is there a way to bypass this passcode so I can figure out the personal info if any to see if I can figure out and maybe get it back to the right person?

If your going to flame me etc don't waste your time. I am not to the point of needing to steal iPods etc... I have my own devices and luckily don't need to rely on others misfortune to get ahead. So spare yourself the messages.

So as I said, I'm just looking to see if anything can be done. Thanks.

Leave it to the local police,if someone reported a missing iPod,they could send it back.

Yah so I took it in, explained the situation they basically said no one came looking for one.. I said well you have a lost and found? They said not really.. and chances of getting it back to the owner are slim to none.

So they didn't even want it so I took the thing back with me..

If you plug it into itunes will it show you an email or something? Would an apple store know how to access the registered email from a serial number?

Take it to the Apple Store? Maybe they can do something about it since they have the information of who previously owned the device.

No apple store around me..

Yah when its plugged into iTunes it asks for authorization however the email is basically blanked out with **** except the last couple of letters so that is useless.
