criticize me now but im done releasing info.

as far as the skus go. they are there. look at the best buy website if u want proof. they are hidden atm, and im not about to release em and whats the point? i write out numbers and you still wont believe me anyways.....

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage...##2##x&list=y&usc=All+Categories&nrp=15&iht=n

look at the left hand side, and notice it says (apple) 13 then click the link.... u see what?!?! 7 notebooks.

have fun.

Yeah, those 3 unaccounted for Apple/OS X laptops were mentioned last week sometime. They've been there for awhile.....meh, we'll find out Tuesday how right you were.

actually if u think about it... it makes perfect sense...

if they release 2 macbooks... and 3 macbook pros. (speed differences obviously) then that makes up for the 5 unaccounted for laptops in the system... because its saying theres 13 notebooks. and only 7 are showing...

make sense?

That doesn't mean anything. If you go to the main laptop page and click:
HP (33), you get 30
Toshiba (18), you get 17
Acer (6), you get 5
From desktops:
HP (31), you get 21
Dell (20), you get 17
Gateway (20), you get 14
eMachines (10), you get 6
...and so on.

its because they add stuff to the site before it comes out... the guys that write the code for the site arent gonna change it because those numbers show total in the system and arent accounting for the hidden stuff....

i doubt that when they (site admins) are changing stuff, that anyone is gonna stop and think... gee theres 3 laptops that arent showing up... NO.. 95% of people dont even notice anything...

* theres old skus in the system too. consider that aswell..

im not saying that they are being debuted on the 2nd. im saying that retail should see em on the 2nd offically. not to say that they will or wont be avail come tues. 14th.

well seeing as you work at BBY...you wont get the new notebooks the same time the apple store does anyway...so even if you have a plano about the new macs, it doesnt do anyone here any good...except for the people that want to buy something at BBY...

I think what he's saying is that his store (I'm assuming this is Best Buy) will have displays on the floor, and MacBooks in stock / for sale on November 2nd based on the info he scanned and posted. He's not saying anything one way or the other as to whether Apple will be selling them tomorrow, either in retail stores or online.

Let's not criticize him because his info doesn't say anything about Apple's ship dates. I don't think it was meant to.

The apples are going to be launched on Nov 2nd.

As far as I can tell, he meant this only in terms of third-party retail channels. He used "apples" to [incorrectly] refer to the MacBooks, not Apple's stores.

I may be wrong.

Yup exactly. These new products don't trickle down to Best Buy until a bit after their availability. November 2 sounds about on spot for when BBY might be receiving any new notebooks introduced tomorrow.

Aloha everyone,

Actually, if you take a closer look, there are seven different MacBook/MacBook Pro models listed, but on Apple's own website, there are eight different models. None of the models listed on the Best Buy website are missing from Apple's website, so there's nothing to see there.

That said, Apple may be combining the notebook lines into simply MacBooks, with no distinction between the consumer and pro lineups. That scenario may serve to increase the number of available notebook models, especially if Apple introduces a coupld more. Of course, we'll have to wait until Tuesday to see the degree to which the new MacBooks are tapered. There is also a rumor of an $800 Apple notebook, so it's anyone's guess at this point. All I know is that I'm not going to be "disappointed" with my 2 year-old MacBook Pro - it still works just fine, and should serve me well for at least 2-3 more years, or until I can talk my wife into getting a new laptop :D

He's right. I used to work there and still have friends who work there. I called them up and they said they do have planograms for new apple products.

I think this is good information he's given us. If BBY receives their stock some time after Apple has them available online, then Apple will be shipping prior to November 2. So all of those people who were worrying that this release would be like the MBA (which came out weeks after it was announced) needn't worry. This is indirect confirmation that the new laptops will be available very soon after the announcement tomorrow.

FAIL. Considering Nov 2 is Sunday, and there is a special event tomorrow.

Vote for wasteland.

If you ever worked in electronics retail you would realize that it doesn't matter when something is released, it doesn't usually hit the ad until sunday. Not to mention planograms (at least in the stores I worked at, bby and ccity) werent done until saturday evenings to prepare for sundays new ad.

Also bestbuy may not have them on day one. There is an apple event tomorrow but my friends said nothing has turned up as far as new hardware at bestbuy.

If you look at what they are showing you it's products they carry that are Apple brand. It turns out they do have 13 things. You obviously just missed the 3 accessories they broke out.

And I can't believe you really think someone sits out there and codes each item/page by hand. Being a web developer I can tell you nobody is going to hand code this crap. It gets chunked in a database to make the content dynamic.

Dear Bustin (may I call you Bust?)....

Thank you for the information you provided. I have no idea what it really means, since I don't work in retail.... but it was fun. Please ignore the others who jumped down your throat and all over your posting. They are grumpy. They have been sleep deprived for nearly a week, as the frenzy of trying to decipher what the tea-leaves and entrails are trying to foretell. Only g*d and SJ (oops, sorry that was redundant) know what is *actually* going to happen on tuesday.

Some people, in their state of anxiety, may have forgotten that this is a *rumours* site.... and that all are free to post their speculations. Its what makes it *fun*.

So, please forgive the grumpy ones, and continue to post whatever new information comes your way. Also, don't take it personally if some choose to believe that it is unfounded speculation. That is the nature of a rumours site....

Thanks again...
