FOX 5 NY Butchers the iPhone 5's Features

It is NOT Fox News. It's WNYW, a Fox affiliate, but Fox News does not produce their newscasts, they produce them themselves.

That said, this is unbelievably bad reporting. I'm shocked that there wasn't a single person in the newsroom who knew the facts about the new iPhone.

Actually WNYW is a Fox Owned and Operated affiliate.

I've lived in NY for over 20 years, the logo presented in that video hasn't been used in about 2 years.

Also take a close look at the mic they're using, now look at my link below from a TSA article published today. The blue color scheme is different which they switched when they redid the site and re-named everything myfoxny (still channel 5).

Did anyone watch the Weeds series finale? They had laser keyboards and holographic projection on their phones too.

This bit of reporting is a good example of why I don't bother watching the news. :)
 
It's rather pathetic that people here are so obsessed, they resort to bashing any source that they have a dislike for.

Not everyone thinks alike, has the same values, or reads the same reports. For that you should be thankful. If everyone was the same it'd be robot village.

Relax people, it's only a bloody phone!
 
has anyone camped out for an Apple products before launch? What's so "special" about the experience... though i assume publicity is what they are referring to?

Not everyone thinks alike, has the same values, or reads the same reports, believes the same facts, experiences the same reality. For that you should be thankful. If everyone was the same it'd be the real world where facts matter.

Besides, I saw the video of Obama being handed the iPhone. To say he was "befuddled" is just ridiculous. It's blatantly obvious he wasn't sure whether it was ringing or not, hence pulling it from his ear to look at the screen.

My point was to say that any politician or news network can be made to look dumb or "uncool" in an out-of-context clip.

Also, it was the Fox local affilate, not Fox News. It's like blaming MSNBC for something stupid that the local NBC affiliate in Kansas does. They are separate.

I get my news from multiple sources across the political spectrum. You can't trust any one source. Otherwise, you don't know what they don't tell you.

Except I followed that link and about half way down the page, found this:

One clarification: the iPhone 5 will not have features such as holographic imaging and laser keyboard as depicted in a YouTube video and reported by FOX 5 News on September 17, 2012.

A buried retraction, but hey - a retraction nonetheless :)

Why? That's the whole point. Bashing a news station that didn't just get a few facts off, they were totally and completely wrong on just about everything but the name. They deserve to be bashed. I fail to see what this Fox affiliate has ever done for me to deserve letting such poor journalism pass. They were wrong. Very, very, very wrong. They deserve a black eye over this. It's like saying the Seattle Seahawks beat the Portland Trailblazers in their latest tennis match!
 
ugh... I feel embarrassed that it's a NY station that reported such crap. I honestly CRINGE whenever a news station reports anything tech or sports related.. the things they say.. but wow this is just a terrible job all around.
 
Im guessing this was an intentional "mistake." Something like this will get their name known and talked about, even if it is negative press its better than no press.
