Hi there, I was wondering if playing games in clamshell mode on an external monitor would drastically reduce the fps?
I mean, if I get 60fps on the MBP, would i get 60fps on the monitor as well?

basic 15" model in clamshell + 23" display running 1920x1080

Since the graphics card would be pushing out a bigger image with 60% more pixels, it is impossible that the same graphics card with the same power could maintain the same FPS, it just doesn't add up.

I'm guessing you'd lose at the very least 15 FPS, if not more.

You can however use the bigger screen, and lower the resolution/change the detail settings to help alleviate this.

I see, so the loss would be noticeable.
I'm reclutant to lower the resolution as running anything under native res distorts the image, but lowering settings might be viable.

Is clamshell mode the prefered operating mode as it disables the MBp display, leaving the gpu only calculating pixels for the external?
