Linux is getting more interest these days it seems. I've always been a Mac person, but open to options and open-source (groan).

This is the sort of decision that is not decided solely by determining the perspectives of the respective technologies.

Instead, these days, I would argue that other matters, such as politics, and economics, will also have an influence - sometimes, a considerable influence - on one's choices in such matters.

FOR SURE !

The French have tried this before and reversed course, but I guess it will be a bit easier this time around. After every general election they update the office systems used by MPs at the parliament. After one election (think it was 2002 but it could've been 2007) they replaced windows with linux everywhere. They had lots of issues, productivity took a dive and people complained bitterly. After the 2012 election they went back to windows. I know this because several friends worked there and I visited their offices during this period and heard their tales of woe.
