So being bored in quarantine had me thinking what if i could run my apple tv (3rd gen) off a battery. So i got to word and did some research. Turns out after removing the power supply there should probably be enough space for a 18650 lithium ion battery to fit inside it. Now here’s the hiccup that battery outputs 2 amps at 3.7 volts. While the apple tv requires 1.75 amps at 3.4 volts. I do not know if connecting the battery would be fine or would i need some kind of circuit?

The amps aren't an issue. The extra .3V might cause an issue, depending on how tolerant the ATV is.

I do wonder about the runtime though. A 2.6 amp-hour battery would only run the ATV for ~1hr 30min at 1.75A.

my question is... WHY?
since all the inputs and outputs to/from the ATV require 120V (assuming USA).... then what advantage is a ATV with a battery?
