I turened on my mac pro today and 1 of my 20" ACD has a small tiny little fly/insect crawling on the inside of the front LCD. I tapped the screen to try and shoo it away and it squished 🙁

So I rang my nearest Apple Repair Centre and asked if they could open the display, wipe it clean and put it back together again. They said this could not be done.

Has a tiny little fly/insect killed €750 worth of monitor ? Is there no way of opening the ACD's ?

Help & Advice would be appreciated.

eww. Thats not good. Im assuming its the newer silver type. The side will either pop off or are being held on by some sort of adhesive which would probably take a hairdryer to loosen up. Remember the the ipodmini's i'm pretty sure their cases are built the same.

eww I know 😱

So that's how they are assembled. That's gonna make it difficult to repair.

I dont suppose there's much chance of the insect drying out and dropping to the bottom of the screen if I give it a day or two? 😱

im not 100% sure, but its pretty close. I remember reading on other forums about all sorts of bug problems in their hardware. A putty knife, cringe, to pop off the sides. but more than likely you'll just screw up your monitor.

Have you tried 'Command + Z?'

Seriously though I would be really upset myself so Im just making light of a crappy situation.

Donations are welcome.

Trid command+Z but nothing. Just dont understand it 😉

Yeah i'd be more peeved if it was my only monitor though. But still 😱

What's worse is it's located right near the centre of the display making it even more painfully obvious.
