I know this question has been asked a lot, but i didn't find one that was asked recently, in 2015, therefore i'm asking it here because my app is about to be published in the next few days. I made a new iPhone app that I worked a lot on in the past few months, and i was planning on charging 99 cents for it instead of making it free, because I really dislike ads in apps, and i assume others do too. But my friends were telling me to make it free, because people won't buy it with their own money.

I've read many articles about it. I just wanted to know your opinion or your stats if you have any apps with Ads or a 0.99$ app.

0,99$ is nothing. But it may ensure people don't download it, as they want things to be free these days.

You could do an Ads version, with an in-app purchase to remove them.

I did think about doing it this way, but i read that rare are the people that purchase the "Remove ads" in-app

It is, but then people at least have the option to do so, so you can cater to both kind of people with one app. And in the end you shouldn't care if people don't mind the ads, since you'll slowly earn money when they use the app. For the people that loathe ads though, it is very nice to have the option.

Alternatively do two versions, App, and App Light (Or something).

If i implement ads with an in-app purchase to remove them, how much money would i earn compared to having my app at 0.99$ ? That's the main question i have right now. I do want to have a lot users enjoying my app, but i really want to earn money from the app. Stats would be nice

Not sure what type of app yours is, but in my opinion, if it is a productivity/social app I prefer to remove the ads via IAP, so that it is more like a trial and you can then decide if you want to keep it and just remove ads. If it a game I'd rather buy a game with no ads upfront. Games that tend to have ads are usually not very good, with some exceptions and tend to get deleted off my devices very fast... Especially pop up ads. Pop ups will generate more money for you vs banner ads, but you don't want to be that app that constantly has pop ups that accidentally get clicked on and makes you exit the app...

My app falls under the Utilities category, so i think what you're implying is that i use in in-app remove ads-option. I'm thinking about doing it this way, especially because where i live, Lebanon, people are not used to buying and spending money on paid apps

I agree completely.
