Free Data recovery software for Mac?

Is there one? I really would like one. I'm pissed since I downloaded a program which appeared to be free, I did the search, it found the deleted file, and then it asked me to pay $100 when I hit recover. 🙁

In general, you get what you pay for when it comes to data recovery. You really can't beat either DiskWarrior or Data Rescue II, both of which are $100. I can't really recommend any of the "free" utilities, and depending on their methods, they could make it more difficult to recover the files with another utility after they fail to recover the files.
