I took four old carpet samples from Home Depot and taped them together. I wish I had four of the same color, but it's still a good solution to protect the night table and the watch - and the price was right :).

someone doesn't care about style much. id rather just use the cable. carpet squares?
 
(not mean I don't think), but two things quickly came to mind:

- You're now banned from that Home Depot for not returning their carpet sample binder

- What are you going to use to patch the kitty scratching post, if you use these as a mat for your bedside table??

LOL - I think I'm going "carpet shopping" today for matching squares :). BTW, these are free sample squares - they were not pulled off the binder. Shag would work well, but the berber would be a disaster.
 
That's also going to collect a ton of dust.. and static electricity.

Horrible idea, but I love these threads.
