I found a free iMac tray loader on craigslist. The seller says the internet connection is broken. I am assuming that this means the internal modem is bad. Would that be easy to replace??? Should i get this iMac?

it could also mean that the ethernet port is bad. i don't know if that model imac included airport or if it had an airport slot, but you might want to ask and find out. but hey, free is free, right?

depending on their level of computer knowledge, it may just be a software problem (corrupt hard drive sector or a system thats never been cleaned) and the owner doesn't know it.... *shrug*

Yeah i read that the 333Mhz slot loader had a modem and ethernet! Surely both of those are not broken!! An Airport card would not fit in a tray loader. Do u think i could use my modem that has eternet and usb and have the iMac and my Gateway online @ the same time??

If ethernet is broken, then you can get an USB to ethernet or USB to wifi adapter.

The iMac is no longer on craigslist. So please don't reply to this forum. Thank you :apple:

i found an iMac G3 400MHz Graphite slot loader on the sidewalk last winter... the HD and memory were taken out, but the power cord was still attached and it looked in pristine condition for a computer that was 8 years old (turned on too!)... sold it on craigslist for a cool $20 easy...

    just thought i'd share...
