Free IR screen swap only in U.S?

So, I live in Malaysia and have a 15" rMBP. I have IR/ghosting on my screen and called AppleCare. Long story short, the person on the phone told me that I was lucky to have AppleCare 3 years because it would cost a lot to change the screen. So, just to make my understanding clear, Apple won't replace rMBPs suffering from IR/ghosting? P.S Mine is an LG. 😕

they would replace it in any country if it is under warranty. they probably said this cos yours is out of the free 1 year warranty but still in the extra 2 years you get from applecare

it makes no difference

however the telephone support only lasts 90 days, not the whole year, if you care about that
