Mercedes Mixed Tape archive site

Does anyone know how to get the previous Mixed Tapes (#'s 1-4) from Mercedes-Benz?
Here is a link to a site that has them all. http://www.sexy-admin.de/modules.php?op=modload&name=Downloads&file=index&req=viewsdownload&sid=10

If you look carefully at the page you will see that it does have links to .zip files. They are in the place that says: File is not available for the time being. Please, use the torrent file! But they are there, as .zip files. Or you can grab them as Torrents. Either way, I got them all including covers.

Thanks RedRaven. I actually got them a few weeks ago from Chip NoVaMac's earlier post to his thread...

Here is a thread I started on that, with a link to a torrent to get the missed ones:

Looks like I didn't respond, so thank you Chip, I appreciate that! I am digging those M-B Mixed Tapes.

I did discover those .zip links also, yet it is good to post those directions for others.

Cheers.

Thanks, they are really good tunes. I just wish it was every month, rather than every two. :D

So when is someone going to start an RSS Feed with this information in it?

Last year I noticed Apple's habit of giving away songs that start with letter 'S' (see post).

Today's four songs are
Someday
She Moves In Secret Ways
Stand On Your Seat
Street Official Mixtape, Vol. 5
I guess they still have that habit.

An interesting glitch in the iTunes Music Store this week: If you click one of the Free Downloads links on the home page, you go to the proper page. But if you control-click, select Copy iTunes Music Store URL, and paste that URL (e.g., http://ax.phobos.apple.com.edgesuite.net/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewAlbum?playlistId=49642206) into Safari, it displays the content retrieved in Safari rather than invoking iTunes. You see the jumbled content like this:

Has anybody seen signs of a new iTunes New Music Sampler? By my reckoning, we're due for another one. Apple doesn't post links to these Samplers on the iTunes Music Store home page so I hope somebody who runs into the next Sampler will let us know.

Thank you Doctor Q, I was able to download all four successfully. Haven't had a chance to listen to them yet. It may not be till the weekend though.

They're going through the alphabet it seems. No free music here in my country.

nope, i havent seen another sampler. usually the iPod lounge site will post a link to it when a new one comes out. i have no idea how to find them either...if you search "free sampler" or anything close to that i always get zero results.

if you haven't noticed yet, they did come out with another Mixed Tape!

Yes, I received a message from Mercedes Benz the other day. Planning on trying to download the selections tomorrow.

I missed a few of the freebies...

And I'm assuming that it'd be taboo to inquire as to whether setting up some kind of exchange of expired freebies would be possible?

I guess it's a bit of a moral gray area, but I'd kinda like to think of it as time-travel, not file-swapping... ;)

well not only is it technically illegal it wont work

the expired freebees will only work on the computer(s) for which the person who 'purchased' them has authorized so if someone sent you to them they still have the DRM and will not work on your machine unless that person authorizes you to use 'em

You'd have to de-DRM them first, of course. JHymn would do the job.

You guys are correct. After their expiration dates, free tunes are just like other purchased tunes, and subject to the same agreement rules and technical limitations.

The weekly free songs are no longer free after about 8 days (longer for Street Official Mixtapes), but for some reason tune #24 in the list, (Bright Eyes - [playlistId=41654272&selectedItemId=41654270]When the President Talks to God[/playlistId]) has remained free since it was first added in January. The iTunes Music Samplers are also free, so that means there are 33 free tunes available as of today.

And some old audiobooks, even from last year, are still free.

This selection was supposed to be available 1/11/05. I kept getting "not available at this time" messages until the next morning. I downloaded it 1/12/05 along with the Discovery Tune "Disappear." It was available before 1/17/05 as quoted from above.
Just thought you might want to know, for accuracy sake.
Thanks for the details. I haven't been compulsive about determining the date-first-available (often late Monday depending on time zone, but sometimes not until Wednesday), so they are based on Apple's "free tune Tuesday" intended release dates.

If I had the time, I could put in bold the tunes that are actually free at any given time, so you'd see 33 of them in bold right now, but I'd have to check daily instead of weekly and I might wear out my computer.

iTMS added a SOTW today, by the looks of it.
If you or somebody else would like to volunteer to maintain a list of free Canadian iTMS tunes, like the U.S. and U.K. versions in this thread, please PM me.

do you know which audiobooks this is?
Michael Crichton's "State of Fear, Chapter 1" is still free but Louis L'Amour's "Merrano of the Dry Country" is not.

For the whole list, try any links in the Free Audiobooks section of this post for 2004 and any of the links in this post for 2005. You'll find the free ones among them. But you may not be interested in them, since many of them are U.S. government reports and political speeches, not books.

I ran across a couple of free audiobooks that you don't have listed. I have no idea when they became available.

Jamie Foxx, Hilary Swank, Morgan Freeman, Clint Eastwood, Cate Blanchett, Chris Rock - 2005 Academy Awards Backstage Interviews (02-27-05)
Beth Anderson - Interview With Lemony Snicket (a.k.a. Daniel Handler)
