Free iTunes 2009

Recent free iTunes have all been DRM-free, but now it's official: iTunes music is in iTunes Plus (DRM-free) format.

We might as well leave the "DRM-free" markers in the lists in this thread since earlier tunes were not DRM-free, but from now on there will no longer be a mixture.

I doubt we're all going to upgrade our free tunes to iTunes Plus (perhaps a few), but the option is available.

How did you find the free downloads for this past week (April 7)? They weren’t listed under “Free on iTunes” on the store’s front page, nor on the page of the same name.
 
I look in the Free On iTunes page, the main store page, the Music section page, and sometimes I go through one genre at a time looking for the free downloads. Once in a while Apple changes what's free during the first 24 hours, so I try to note what's listed as free but not yet actually free.

FWIW, I just got an Apple email about "Dance Spotlight: 10 Free Tracks."

I haven't found it through the store yet though. I think you can only get it via a coupon code in the email, which I assume is unique per user.

(WOW. I just caught up on this thread and downloaded a total of 80 free iTunes tracks! That'll take forever to evaluate.)

Apple's web page for the iTunes Holiday Sampler has broken links for some of the artists and songs and even some misspellings. The names and links are correct in the list at the beginning of this thread.
