iPod touch Free iWork for iPod Touch 5th Generation?

Hello, I'm an iPod Touch 5th generation owner and I heard that Apple's is providing Pages, Keynote and Numbers along with iMovie & iLife for free!

How does it work? Is it only with purchases from now on...?

I went to the app store on my Touch 5 and they were charging for the apps.

I believe its only on a purchase of a "new" device, I.E devices purchased after this announcement.
