I still think that .mac accounts need to have a little more to justify the price.

How many apps are available at .mac now?

Oops.

I posted a duplicate somewhere else. Didn't even realise we *had* a "New Mac Application Announcements" forum. *sheepish*

There's also now a "Benefits" icon on the .Mac page that I hadn't seen before (I did a search on the forum for this one - nada). The top of the new page reads

"Your .Mac membership includes a steady stream of gifts, specials, free downloads, and discounts on Apple and third-party software."

I hope they're not only talking about the Europe/Japan/Australia Store discounts for signing-up...

I fixed your other thread, so no worries ;)

You'd think that if you bought a new machine and spend 1000s that Apple would give you at least a year of .mac for free

.Mac should really provide you with free Os upgrades, like 10.3 for example.

I am only getting .Mac for bookmark syncing and the web page publishing feature of iPhoto, and it is not worth $100 a year.

The demo of Marble Blast is lots of fun and enough like the original Marble Madness arcade game that it should be interesting for those of us who didn't have unlimited quarters or an Amiga.

For anyone who is on the fence about getting .mac or not, the incentives are probably really helping them decide to get it.

I am thinking more and more that it is worth the $99.

I enjoy Marble Blast, but Marble Madness is better. Also, it came out for the NES as well, I was playing it last week.

.Mac games section ideas

What a great little game. Personally I do not see the Marble Madness resemblance in this game as it uses a completely different control method - Super Monkey Ball was more like Marble Madness than this.

I really hope that Apple creates a game service that is a part of .Mac where members can not only download games and updates but also read reviews, hints, games news and forum discussions.

I also hope that something like GamesRanger becomes a part of .Mac so that all multiplayer games could be set-up and played. As it is now, there is no such standard network game setup, with some developers supporting GamesRanger and others using GameSpy or their own solution.

Anyway, there is no question about the value of .Mac when members have access to free software like Virex and all these games. Perhaps if randomly chosen members could receive free Apple software like Keynote and Final Cut Express more people would embrace the service.

I agree, but I think that most people still only think of .mac as being email and web pages. I love .mac account and have never questioned its value, my isp on the other hand, now there is a rip off.

The last game that they featured has been great, the solitaire game. I play it just about every week. I do wish that they had keep the freeverse stuff up, they make some excellent games for the web.

Now that was an addicting game. I remember playing that constantly 10 years ago on my original GameBoy. Too bad I can't find it. I could have tried it out on my GB Color. :(

Truly addictive. I have found that sometimes the easy way to win is not the obvious. On some of the maps with the goal only to make it too the end within a certain time limit, sometimes finding a good place to jump from is just the answer to winning.

On the expert board that is like a roller coaster, I got just above the finish area, looked straight down and jumped for it.

Some of the other boards look impossible. The racetrack with the 45 second time limit is damn tough. I think my best time is 65 seconds. It is way too addictive though.

I played the demo and liked it. Not a .mac user so I'll not be getting the game, but pretty cool.

I really do think Apple needs to offer more than just games and such to justify having a .mac account.

None of these games impress me.

I will wait till the last day or so to re-up with .Mac. I want Apple to woo me, beg me, promise me wild sEx. Then, exhaused ... I will send them my money.
